Dot Pattern Match

Developed by Grayson H. Wheatley
Students construct mental images for the numbers one through ten rather than relying on counting. It is important that students learn to think in collections. Students also develop their spatial memory. With the variations in the arrangements of dots, students generalize their concept of number. Additive reasoning is developed as students determine that there are eight dots on a card by thinking of four dots and four dots or five and three.
