Quick Draw: Developing Spatial Sense in Mathematics
by Dr. Grayson H. Wheatley

Quick Draw is designed to develop spatial sense, encourage the transformation of self-constructed images and develop geometric intuitions through discussion.

You can sample a few Quick Draw activities by studying the figures below. To begin, an image is displayed for 3 seconds. The figure is then removed, and you should "draw what you saw." When the figure is displayed again, compare it with what you have drawn. You may have to study the figure for several 3 second intervals to be able to complete your drawing.

Analyze what you have drawn. Does it match the displayed figure? How does it differ? What important elements have you left out, or what have you altered?

Try this exercise again with another of the displayed figures.

Have fun!
